Taxi Driver Drugs Four Women to Carry Out Sexual Attacks
John Worboys, a 62-year-old taxi driver was charged with drugging four women with alcoholic drinks laced with a sedative, in an attempt to carry out sex attacks in London between 2000-2008.
He informed his alleged victims he had won money gambling after picking them up in his taxi.
A video-link from Wakefield prison was used for Worboys to appear at Westminister Magistrates. He made notes of the hearing but did not enter a plea.
Worboys faces two counts of administering a stupefying or overpowering drug with intent to commit rape or indecent assault under the Offences Against the Person Act, and two of administering a substance with intent to commit a sexual offence under the Sexual Offences Act.
Worboys is said to have used similar tactics over many years to drug various women and the first lady to come forward with allegations was in 2018.
