Mancunian jailed for nine years after stealing from taxi drivers and shop workers at knife-point

Owen Curtis, a 26 year old from Partington held victims at knife point in the summer of 2018 and then continued to steal from them.

He was convicted at Minshull Street Crown Court and sentenced to nine years.

His victims included shop employees and taxi drivers in the Trafford area.

He used a knife to steal from drivers after ordering taxis and after entering local shops.

His list of crimes included :-

  • Stealing £120 from a taxi driver whilst travelling in a club car from Stretford Road in Urmston
  • Stealing £300 from a One Stop Shop on Winchester Road, Urmston
  • Stealing £200 from Martin McColls on Canterbury Road, Urmston
  • Attempted robbery at Martin McColls store on Flixton Road in Flixton, where a worker defended the shop successfully and foiled his attempts

The robberies received social media attention and his face was advertised locally during the Police investigation.
