Durham taxi drivers being robbed by Male Robber

There have been a rapid increase in the robbery of taxi drivers in Durham since November by an unknown male suspect in his 30s.

There have been a variety of incidents between November to January whereby a taxi driver picked up a customer who then proceeded to rob them at gunpoint, which included :-

  • Gunpoint Robbery at an apartment complex on Meriwether Drive, which is near the intersection at Holloway Street and Briggs Avenue
  • Gunpoint robbery on 1300 Block of Tucker St, where the taxi drivers money and phone were stolen
  • Robbery at 900 Block Dayton Street
  • Robbery at 1200 Block of Camden Avenue approx 11pm, whereby a man robbed a taxi who was waiting for his client
  • Robbery at 4000 block of Meriwether Drive at approx 10.30pm, whereby the customer stole the drivers wallet at gunpoint

The suspect in all cases is a 6ft male, wearing a hoodie and in his 30s.

The police are asking for the public for any information they may have.
